Audio & Technical Director
Location: San Diego, CA | Reports To: Executive Pastor / Pastoral Team
Type: Part-Time (10-15 hours/week) | Compensation: $31–$36/hour DOE

Makers Church is a non-denominational community of Jesus followers in the vibrant, diverse, and creative neighborhood of North Park, San Diego. Our mission is to make on earth as it is in heaven by developing and commissioning followers of Jesus to love God and love others.
We’re in an exciting season of growth! Makers is currently undergoing a significant campus renovation that will expand our multi-use facilities and open new opportunities to serve our neighborhood through community events, gatherings, and partnerships. This role is positioned to grow alongside that vision.
As our renovated campus becomes usable over the next 12 months with expanded multi-use facilities, this position has a clear path to full-time as we support community events, neighborhood partnerships, and new ministry opportunities beyond Sunday mornings.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
As Audio & Technical Director, you’ll serve as the primary technical leader for all Makers gatherings — combining hands-on front-of-house audio engineering with technical oversight of video, lighting, livestream, and visual media.
Audio Engineering
-
Serve as primary Front-of-House (FOH) engineer for Sunday worship gatherings and special events

Create and maintain high-quality, distraction-free mixes that support congregational worship and spoken word
-
Manage monitor mixes (IEMs/wedges) in coordination with worship team needs
-
Maintain, tune, and troubleshoot audio systems including console, wireless microphones, speakers, and in-ear systems
-
Develop and document channel templates, scene recalls, and workflow best practices
Technical Direction
-
Serve as live Technical Director for Makers gatherings, calling cues and ensuring seamless transitions
-
Oversee technical execution of video switching, camera operations, lighting, and ProPresenter
-
Ensure livestream broadcast is technically excellent, stable, and synchronized with in-room production

Collaborate with worship leaders and pastoral team on service flow and technical requirements

Coordinate with Communications/Creative team to ensure all media content is prepped, loaded, and properly formatted
Team Leadership & Volunteer Development (As Time Allows & Role Expands)

Create an environment where volunteers are growing in skill and excited to serve

Build and maintain weekly volunteer schedules using Planning Center Online

Future Role: Lead weekly tech team communications and periodic training sessions

Future Role: Recruit, train, and disciple a volunteer production team across all technical areas

Future Role: Create a leadership pipeline developing volunteers into position-specific operators and future leaders
Systems & Infrastructure
-
Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on AVL systems; identify and propose equipment upgrades with budget estimates for leadership approval
-
Manage equipment inventory, repairs, and replacement planning
-
Document systems, signal flow, and operational procedures for training and consistency
-
Conduct initial audit of current AVL systems within first 90 days and provide prioritized recommendations
TYPICAL WEEKLY SCHEDULE
-
Sundays: 7:30 AM – 11:30 AM (setup, sound check, services, teardown)
-
Thursdays: 6:00 – 8:00 PM (worship rehearsal, as scheduled)

Midweek: 5-10 hours flexible as needed (admin, planning, equipment maintenance, volunteer coordination)

Special Events: As needed (worship nights, holiday services, baptisms, etc.)
Note: Additional hours for special events and major holidays (Christmas Eve, Easter) are compensated at standard hourly rate and coordinated in advance.

Technical Expertise

3+ years of experience in live audio engineering and/or production in church or live event settings

Demonstrated ability to create quality front-of-house mixes in mid-sized venues (200–500 capacity)

Strong understanding of signal flow, gain structure, EQ, compression, and live mixing fundamentals
-
Experience with digital audio consoles (Yamaha TF/QL/CL series or equivalent)
-
Working knowledge of wireless microphone systems and in-ear monitor setups
-
Familiarity with video switching (Blackmagic ATEM or similar), PTZ cameras, and livestream workflows (Wirecast, YouTube, etc.)
-
Proficiency with ProPresenter or equivalent presentation software, and Planning Center Online (or willingness to learn quickly)

Competence with macOS environment

Kids Ministry Teacher
Position: Kids Ministry Teacher
Potential Open Classes: Nursery, TK/Kindergarten, Grades 3-5, Substitute Teacher(s)

Compensation: $22 hour; paid bi-weekly
JOB SUMMARY
Our Kids Ministry Teachers are responsible for teaching Biblical lessons through the Grow curriculum and running the games and/or craft activities laid out by the Families Director each Sunday. Teachers must have a God-centered heart with a focus on educating and loving the next generation of disciples.
New applicants can state on their cover letter if they would like to apply for the role as a paid internship to include projects to fit university credit requirements.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Classroom prep and teaching the curriculum laid out by the Families Director, including facilitating discussion, games and/or crafts, and activities. (Required hours: Sunday 8:30 AM-11:30 AM)

Work collaboratively alongside Maker’s pastors, staff, parents, and volunteers.

Facilitate safe and smooth child check-in and check-out processes each Sunday.

Provide support at Makers’ Church events

A professional with role-aligned experience or a student pursuing a degree or beginning a career in child development, pediatric nursing, Christian studies, education, ministry, teaching, youth and family ministry, pastoral studies, or the equivalent. Professional or volunteer experience serving and/or leading in a church children’s ministry, childcare, classroom, or working with caregivers and families.

Facilities Team Member
Location: San Diego, CA

JOB SUMMARY
The Facilities Team Member supports the day-to-day care, cleanliness, and readiness of the campus by ensuring classrooms, sanctuary, and common areas are clean, safe, welcoming, and properly set up for regular use and special events. This role also assists with event setup and teardown, basic security oversight, and opening and closing the building as scheduled.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Cleaning & Maintenance Support

Perform weekly cleaning of classrooms, sanctuary, offices, and common areas

Vacuum carpets, sweep and mop floors

Wipe down and disinfect surfaces, tables, chairs, and high-touch areas

Middle Grade Youth Sunday School Teacher
PURPOSE:
To lead, disciple, and empower middle school students (grades 6–8) through weekly Sunday programming and intentional weekday gatherings that help them grow in faith, community, and purpose.

This includes weekly Sunday programming, optional weekday discipleship opportunities, volunteer coordination, and student engagement—creating a safe, welcoming, and Christ-centered environment for middle school students to grow in their relationship with God and one another
PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT & LEADERSHIP

Under the leadership of the youth director, deliver engaging Sunday morning programming that reflects the mission and values of Makers Church.

Receive and delivery teaching materials, games, and discussions that are age-appropriate, relevant, and biblically grounded.
